This is my first post and it's actually the first blog that I try out, so this should be interesting!!
I look forward to having a good experience and being able to keep up with the expectations of a good blog!!
So what this is this blog all about?
Mixed Martial Arts. For those who may not know, Mixed Martial Arts is a combat sport that integrates and allows the usage of multiple techniques of several disciplines/martial arts. Amongst the disciplines and Martial Arts that are commonly used and integrated in this combat sport we can find: Boxing, Wrestling, Kick boxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Sambo, Aikido, Kungfu and several others.
Since all the martial arts are welcome to be used in a Mixed Martial Arts bout, this opens the doors for thousands of practitioners from each discipline rather than restricting the fighter to only fight under their respective discipline. The good thing about this is that promotes diversity, but it also makes the sport more competitive as the fighters need to study and analyze techniques from other disciplines that they do not know or haven't practiced. All of this makes it harder for the fighter as he needs to integrate a lot of aspects of each discipline rather than focusing only on one.
In a boxing match, you don't have to worry about going to the ground and in a wrestling or a judo match you don't have to worry about getting hit. Once you fuse those two main aspects, "Striking" and "Grappling", you get a much more complete sport with many elements incorporated to it.
I will be taking more about Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) throughout my blog postings, about its rules, evolution, controversy, safety, events, fighters, etc.
What will this blog bring to the table??
I will be posting relevant news, comments, videos, photos, predictions, a lot of MMA statistics, highlight reels, world rankings, documentation and pretty much everything related to MMA.
How will the content be?
My goal is to do posts that would be readable and understandable by the casual reader, enjoyable by the hardcore fan and interesting to critiques and analysts. I hope to keep a decent and professional writing style, but as well enjoy the luxuries of being casual and fun. It doesn't matter how savvy you are, I hope this becomes enjoyable.
How often will I post?
I will post AT LEAST weekly. After I meet my weekly post I'm giving myself the liberty to post as many times as I feel like during the week. So it could very well be once a week up to every day of the week. It depends on my mood and my availability (yes all of us have other important things to do :D).
What about Feedback/Comments?
I'm a person that truly enjoys feedback and comments. I truly believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and to the right of expressing it. Not only I believe everyone has the right, but I also encourage people to voice their thoughts. One of the best ways to learn and to enrich oneself would be by discussing, arguing and hearing different point of views. So SAY WHAT YOU PLEASE!!! I welcome all of your comments even if it's just a simple "I hated this post, you suck". Whatever you have mind, just express it.
Remember to always keep a decent and respectful manner whenever you express yourself
Who am I?
Well, I'm "The Keyboard Fighter"!!!
The name comes from a practical joke about the avid "typical" Mixed Martial Arts fan, that boasts and rants about how knowledgeable and tough he/she is but hasn't dedicated time to actually train the martial arts and disciplines. Well in my case though I don't boast and rant and I trained Karate in my younger days for about 2 years and practiced Jiu-Jitsu/Wrestling recently for 3 months. I still consider this like having no training at all, so I'm just a Keyboard Fighter.
Things I enjoy in life: MMA (duh!), good Music (listening to music around 60% of the time), working out, going out, movies/restaurants, all kind of sports or competitive activities, Math/Statistics/Finance/Investing, reading and a lot more...
Having a B.S. in Finance and another B.S. in Industrial Engineering makes me a little bit of an analytical person, but I hope I don't sound as calculative and much more enthusiastic and I hope you enjoy this blog!!!
Thank you for reading, even if it is just a sentence and pleaaaase any comments/suggestions or anything that you could say, feel free to. Godspeed and Party on!!!!
